In junior high, students are exposed to a wide variety and range of literature through drama, the novel, short stories and poetry. They also explore informational texts.
Students are given opportunities to develop their own writing skills through narrative, expository, persuasive, and descriptive writing. This is done both individually and collaboratively. Students also learn how to write formal research reports.
Language Arts encompasses reading, language, and spelling. Grammar is treated as a separate subject in junior high, with a focus on high school preparation.
