INCARNATION SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

 

Incoming K-1-2

 

Exciting Engaging Engineering/Recess Games: Build a classroom fort, construct a city, build the strongest paper column or race to the finish line with exciting STEM projects t­­­hat will keep you on your toes.  After this wonderful work, go outside and become a pro at all the recess games we will play at INCA starting in Fall 2017.

 

Performing Arts: The Wonderful World of Disney: Performing Arts- Bring your favorite characters to life on the stage, and come join us as we sing and dance to our favorite Disney classics, new and old! The students will have a lot of fun while learning vocal, dance, and performance techniques. We will finish out the week with a performance for family and friends!

 

Jesus Parables/Educational Websites: What does Jesus wants us to know? What does Jesus wants YOU to know?  Come learn more about Jesus Christ through fun Bible Study and engaging activities. Then, let’s explore kid-friendly educational websites to help support your math and language arts growth.

 

Performing Arts: Get ready to take on New York City with a week full of Broadway biggest hits! The students will dance and learn music from classic and contemporary musicals. Throughout the week, we will also learn vocal, dance, and performance techniques. Come see the students shine on stage with a performance at the end of the week for family and friends!

 

Arts & Crafts/Math Centers: Are you creative?  Do you like getting messy and dirty?  Come create an art project while having fun with ladybugs and be the math whiz at your next birthday party. Are you creative?  Do you like to build?  Come be unique and let’s build!

 

Math Centers/Lego Fun:  Do you like fun tricks?  Do you like castles? Do you love animals and critters?  Learn to build a castle using math shapes, adding creative spirit by designing a project with Legos.

 

Incoming 3-4

 

Art Class with Mrs. CuevasThis art course will emphasize experimentation and a wide variety of ways to use paper-mache.  Students will learn about 3D forms, shapes, and textures.

 

Slimy, Yucky, Sticky Chemistry:  Explore the basics of chemistry while having fun getting messy. Create various textures of slime.  Discover the wonders of oobleck and make it dance to music while learning that it is a non-Newtonian fluid! Learn to make elephant’s toothpaste. (Elephant not included.) Play with water-proof sand and make it glow in the dark!

 

Whacky Science:

Dive into science awesomeness with cool, whacky experiments you won’t see during the school year. Create your own lava lamp and learn about density. Play with the element, Gallium, and watch the metal melt in your hands. Conduct a “cool” experiment making ice sculptures out of sodium acetate. Make your own Super Bubble Solution and experiment with ways of creating different bubbles.

Performing Arts:  Broadway Bound: Get ready to take on New York City with a week full of Broadway show tunes! The students will learn music and choreography from classical and contemporary musicals. Throughout the week, we will also learn vocal, dance, and performance techniques. Come see the students shine on stage with a performance at the end of the week for family and friends!

 

Incoming 5-6

 

Science in Motion:  For students who love science and want to understand how and why things move. Explore the basics of forces and motion. Dive into Isaac Newton’s universe by launching a balloon race with other students. Learn about aerodynamics by making a kite. Build a glider that flies even farther than a paper airplane and illustrate the principle of thrust in an unforgettable way. Test which popsicle stick catapult will shoot the marshmallow the farthest.  Construct and race a motor-powered toy car.

 

STEM project/Computer labIt’s time to put on your scientist-tech-engineering- mathematician cap on and help us build the tallest paper tower (using ONLY paper), help engineer a water slide and much more.

Incoming 7-8

 

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST  PREPARATION/TUTORING: A six week course, covering Math and Language Arts, will give your student a head-start in preparing for this important test.  An assessment will be given at the beginning and end of the course to monitor growth, indicating areas of strength and areas for more focused study.
